With the Toronto Raptors celebrating their 20th anniversary season in 2014-15, Josh Lewenberg and TSN.ca take a look back at the franchises first two decades with weekly Top Five lists, counting down the standout and signature players and moments in team history. 5. Morris Peterson Raptors shooting stats (7 seasons): .371 3P%, .421 FG%, .782 FT% Career shooting stats (11 seasons): .373 3P%, .418 FG%, .773 FT% Before it became widely recognized as the most efficient shot in basketball, Peterson made his living spotting up in the corners as a long-time member of the Raptors. Bridging the gap between the Vince Carter and Chris Bosh eras in Toronto, Peterson was at his best when he could play off one of the teams All-Stars. With Carter and Bosh drawing in attention, Peterson - the Raptors all-time leader in games played - saw plenty of open looks but hes best known for what he could do with the contested ones. No one made circus shots look easier than Peterson. Case in point, one of his last, yet most memorable moments as a Raptor. Undermanned and trailing by three in the dying seconds of a game against the Wizards on Mar. 30, 2007, the Raptors forward threw up a desperation three-ball from 31-feet out to beat the buzzer and force overtime. There are several of deserving players that could make a case for this spot, but Peterson gets the nod for longevity and theatrics. 4. Donyell Marshall Raptors shooting stats (2 seasons): .410 3P%, .457 FG%, .759 FT% Career shooting stats (15 seasons): .350 3P%, .435 FG%, .731 FT% Coming over in a trade from Chicago early in the 2003-04 season, Marshall blossomed in his role as the Raptors stretch four in an era before the hybrid position became all the rage in the NBA. The 6-foot-9 forward could rebound and defend better than hes given credit but his bread and butter, at that stage of his career, came from beyond the arc. Marshall shot a hair better than 40 per cent from long range in his first season with Toronto and topped out at 42 per cent off the bench the following year. His most memorable night came on Mar. 13, 2005 when he set the franchise mark and tied Kobe Bryant NBA record making 12 three-pointers in a win over the 76ers, scoring a career-high 38 points in the process. 3. Anthony Parker Raptors shooting stats (3 seasons): .424 3P%, .460 FG%, .829 FT% Career shooting stats (9 seasons): .404 3P%, .444 FG%, .794 FT% Quietly, yet consistently, Parker was one of the most reliable spot-up shooters to wear a Raptor uniform. The former Euroleague star shot at least 39 per cent from long range in each of his three seasons with Toronto, topping out at 44 per cent in his debut, helping the team to its first ever division title. A beneficiary of Jose Calderons pinpoint passing and the attention opposing defences would focus on Bosh, Parker excelled from the corners. He ranks fourth on the Raptors all-time three-point field goal percentage list (.424) and is responsible for the third (.441) and fourth (.438) best single-season shooting marks. 2. Jose Calderon Raptors shooting stats (8 seasons): .388 3P%, .481 FG%, .877 FT% Career shooting stats (10 seasons): .413 3P%, .479 FG%, .874 FT% Calderon is best known for his playmaking and leadership abilities at the point guard position, but he also happened to be one of the most efficient shooters in Raptors history. Most impressively, hes a self-made shooter. As a rookie coming over from Spain, Calderon connected on just seven of his 43 attempts (16 per cent) from beyond the arc. Seven years later, the season he was traded, the Spaniard shot an absurd 46 per cent from three-point range to lead the NBA. In 2009 he set the franchise record for consecutive free throws made (87), also the second-longest streak in league history. Hes ranked ninth on the Raptors all-time field goal percentage list, the only guard in the top 10. The only knock on his shot: he didnt use it enough. 1. Dell Curry Raptors shooting stats (3 seasons): .390 3P%, .420 FG%, .833 FT% Career shooting stats (16 seasons): .402 3P%, .457 FG%, .843 FT% Curry came to the Raptors in his mid-30s and would play his final three NBA seasons in Toronto just as they were starting to turn the corner. His shooting stroke was a thing of beauty - the smoothest in Raptors history and one of the finest this league has ever seen. Unsurprisingly, the vets biggest moments came on the biggest stage. Hitting 20 of his 45 three-point attempts in three trips to the playoffs with Toronto, Curry was relied upon late in games because of his knack for making crucial jumpers. His most memorable shot came with less than a minute remaining in Game 7 of the second-round series against Philadelphia in 2011. Curry knocked down a trey to pull within one - those would be the last points scored in the series, leading to Vince Carters infamous fadeaway that would rim out in the final seconds. A year later he was at it again, scoring 14 of his team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter of a deciding Game 5 against Detroit, nearly carrying his team to an unlikely series win without the injured Carter. He passed on that gift to his son, Steph - currently one of, if not the best shooters in the NBA. Honourable mention: Tracy Murray, Walt Williams, Dee Brown, Steve Novak, Jason Kapono, Vince Carter, Lamond Murray, Matt Bonner, Chris Bosh, Mike James, Terrence Ross, Kyle Lowry, Patrick Patterson Expert picks: Jack Armstrong 1. Jose Calderon 2. Anthony Parker 3. Dee Brown 4. Donyell Marshall 5. Dell Curry Sherman Hamilton 1. Dell Curry 2. Tracy Murray 3. Morris Peterson 4. Donyell Marshall 5. Walt Williams jerseys cheap nfl . SCA Promotions has sought to reopen a 2006 settlement paid to Armstrong since his 2013 admission to using performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career to win the Tour de France. The arbitration panel that first approved the settlement agreed to reconsider the case, and a Dallas judge last week rejected Armstrongs attempts to stop it. nfl jerseys china . Doneil Henry, the man who scored Toronto FCs last-gasp game winner Saturday, knows that probably better than anyone. http://www.jerseyscheapnfl.us.com/ . AnthonyDavis and the New Orleans Pelicans ended up with the bigger problem. wholesale jerseys .Y. -- Marcos Ambrose should be on pins and needles but says hes not. cheap jerseys . And it showed Thursday night. The Canadiens, playing in their second game in as many days, however, got a good performance in the end from their backup goaltender as he filled in for an injured Olympic gold medallist .FIVE QUICK NBA THOUGHTS: 1. THE THUNDER & PACERS BENCHES: In a nutshell, not impressive at all. These teams will continue to come up short if they dont add depth and scoring punch to their second units. You spend a fortune on your starters in the league, yet your scouting, evaluation and development of spots numbers 6-15 are vital. You must find those gems that help get you over the hump. 2. HEAT & SPURS: The common thread when I watch both of these squads is team and they truly value the importance of the pass. The best two teams are where they belong in the NBA Finals. Lots of good things happen when you share. 3. BORISDIAW (Spurs): Hes always been a wonderful talent, but conditioning has been an issue over the years. Hes in much better shape now and, boy, did he ever showcase his vast skill set in Game 6 against the Thunder. His game fits the Spurs system and it fits him for a perfect match. He might be slow and methodical, but hes really effective. 4. CHRISBOSH (Heat): He really picked his game back up late in the series against the Pacers. He will be a crucial guy for Miami in the Finals. His perimeter versatility and reboundiing will be huge for the Heat.dddddddddddd Sometimes hes comfortable being that complimentary piece, but he cant do that here. He must exert his will and talents on the series. When hes really right, the Heat are a very difficult team to match up against. 5. COACHING VACANCIES: The Lakers, Knicks, Timberwolves, Cavs and Jazz all still have openings. Rumours fly all over the place and many are planted by agents to boost the profile of the candidates. The big decision for the GM is to make sure they get a coach who can develop young talent, adapt to the talent at his disposal and work on the same page with the front office. Are they out there? Oh, yeah. You just have to select the right fit for your franchise. Its not about "winning the press conference," its about tuning out the noise. For example, Jeff Hornacek and Steve Clifford worked out just fine this past season. There are lots of very good coaches out there. Take your time and do it right. These guys really define the direction you take. With the wrong hire, it can really set you back. Know what you need and dont play the "name game." wholesale jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
